snom technology to Demo — Secure SMB VoIP Phone at VON

Announces first-ever SRTP Interop with Ingate Systems San Jose, 14 March 2006 —
Today, at Spring VON in San Jose, Berlin-based IP solution vendor snom technology (www.snom.com) introduced the latest in an expanding line of SIP-based IP telephones for business. The snom 300 — priced to hit the SMB $100 sweet spot — is a full-featured, fully standards-based SIP phone compatible with IP PBXs from Cisco, Nortel, Avaya, Digium (Asterisk), pbxnsip and other vendors, and with global SIP-based VoIP carrier services based on Broadsoft and other leading platforms.

Unique at its price-point, the snom 300 offers standards-based sRTP content/setup encryption and fully-standards-based, multivendor-interoperable authentication and key exchange. In a separate joint release this morning, snom and firewall maker Ingate Systems announced the recent successful completion of first-ever sRTP interop trials between snom phones and Ingate(r) Firewall, ushering in the era of VoIP multivendor security and increasing choice for buyers.

" Achieving SRTP interoperability between snom and Ingate Systems marks an important watershed in the evolution of VoIP security," said Michael Knieling, VP Marketing for snom technology, AG. "The result will be more robust, provably-secure solutions, and a wider field of options for end users."

The snom 300 features a two-line display (2 x 16 characters), and an ergonomically-designed, 27-key pad. Two Ethernet ports allow convenient daisy-chaining of an associated PC or laptop from a single Ethernet port. Like all snom SIP telephones, the snom 300 complies closely with current SIP RFCs, including those for standard SIP security (SIPS/SRTP) and provides a complete, standard feature-set for ENUM, network management and firewall/NAT traversal management (STUN, NAT, ICE). Codecs supported include G.723.1, G.722, and G.726.

Echoing the theme of VoIP security, snom co-founder Dr. Christian Stredicke will address VON seminar attendees on Tuesday, March 14 (3:15 PM) on the topic of "Interoperable SIP Security - A Real World Experience."

Interested media, channels and end users are encouraged to visit snom at booth #1534 at Spring VON 2006 in San Jose.
